Ingredients
Black Sesame Hojicha Latte
1 tablespoon black sesame paste, store-bought or homemade (recipe below)
Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet on low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent seeds from burning.
Pour sesame seeds into a small food processor and blend until well broken down, 3-5 minutes.
With motor running, add sweetener and sesame oil. Continue to blend until mixture starts to form a fine paste, stopping to scrape the sides every once in a while.
Add warm water, a teaspoon or two at a time, to achieve desired consistency. I used about 2 tablespoons to get a thick, spreadable paste.
To make the black sesame hojicha latte:
Add 1 tablespoon of sesame paste and 3 tablespoons of CinderBird Hojicha Latte powder to a tall mug.
Add about 2 ounces of hot water to black sesame mixture and mix well with a milk frother, about 10 seconds. A bamboo matcha whisk also works well for this.
Top with remaining hot water and stir gently to combine.
Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top, if desired.
Recipe Note
If you don't want to make your own black sesame paste, you can find it online or in your nearest Asian market.
