Hojicha is a Japanese green tea powder, made from the same plant as matcha, that's roasted over charcoal. The roasting process gives it a light brown color and toasty flavor that's quite different than matcha. It also decreases the caffeine content considerably. A cup of hojicha contains about 7-8 mg of caffeine, similar to decaf coffee.
